An Ideal For Youth

We all celebrate National Youth Day on 12th January being the birth day of Swami Vivekananda : The perfect ideal for youth. Swami Vivekananda, who shook the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago on 11 September 1893 by delivering an iconic speech about intolerance, essence of Hinduism and Indian spirituality. There he got a standing ovation from the croud of around 7 thousand people for about 2 minutes for his fascinating starting words, "Sisters and Brothers of America! "
We all must know why Swami Vivekananda is considered as an ideal for youth and his contribution towards our nation for building values and marking a great landmark in the history.
"Swami Vivekananda was a young spiritual leader who is credited with spreading the essence of Indian spirituality to the Western world and had immense faith in the power of youth." - Google
Narendra Datta aka Swami Vivekananda was born in Bengal on 12 January 1863.
His quotes about youth and Indian cultures are famous all around the world. He once said, "Give me 100 energetic young men and I shall transform India."
The youth plays a significant role in today's world. By their revolutionary ideas and enthusiastic nature they are capable of evolving the world. This was understood by Swami Vivekananda much ahead of the time, that's why he emphasized a lot on development of young generation and promoting their social, intellectual and spiritual growth.
Let us see, what should be an ideal young generation of India....
According to me, The youth of India must undertake the responsibility of transforming India from developing country to a developed country. We alone can do a lot for Indian social development.
Swami Vivekananda is an inspiration for each and every Indian. He introduced our own Indian culture and vedas to external world. Likewise we must flaunt our own traditions, cultural diversity and festivals in front of the entire world. Many a times we are busy infusing other's cultures and stop being interested about own customs. We have to instill our minds with all good qualities from the entire world but this doesn't mean that we should always strive for the things which others have and neglect our own origins. For example Some of us may consider gyming as the best form of physical exercise, of course it is but nowadays yoga is accepted world wide. Earlier yoga didn't have that much of attention in India itself, but now it's an apple of everyone's eyes. Yoga emphasis on both, mental as well as physical health. The whole world is behind Indian origins like Ayurveda, Scriptures, Yoga, Herbs, Spirituality and many more. These days we observe that even the multinational brands like colgate are manufacturing Colgate Vedshakti, this according to me is different kind of success because even the International brands are intriguing about Indian traditional customs. It is well said, "People without interest and knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots."
We all are sensible but somewhere we lack sensitivity. We must be sensitive and helpful to one another, and always remember the word 'Ubuntu' which means 'I am because you are'. A person is a person through other person. We all are interconnected. This helps us to understand and work towards building a social, amiable and hospitable community together.

  9. When any person starts his/her speech saying "Sisters and Brothers of XYZ country/city name!" the first thing one recollect is the name of Swami Vivekananda. This starting phrase in a speech has become synonymous with his name.

You are absolutely right saying “We all are sensible but somewhere we lack sensitivity.” I hope this good message passes on to all. I’ve sent the link of your article to my friends.
